The year is 1809

Three years have passed since the Eylau and Friedland victories, which saw France defeat Prussia and force the Russian Tsar into an alliance. France stands proud as the sole master of Europe, while Austria is weak, with Hungary occupied and in a war against the Ottomans. Great Britain remains defiant on its islands and across the Channel, but the French have been busy building a new fleet, along with integrating the Danish Fleet they captured in 1806. Troops are massing in Brittany and Normandy, soon ready for a general assault, while the English worry and prepare for an invasion. Can the Royal Navy save the day once more?

War is in full swing in Spain, as Napoleon Bonaparte has just invaded the country and is pushing his enemies south. While in Madrid, the Emperor decides to stay with his armies and push south instead of going back to Paris, as many are advising him. After all, France has no enemies but the Spanish and the British armies, and they are right in front of it. Austria and Prussia remain weak following the War of the Fourth Coalition in 1805-1806. He thus begins moving his troops toward the center and the southern part of the country, pursuing British General Moore’s defeated army with the ultimate objective of occupying the entire Iberian Peninsula to deny its port to British commerce.

In Hungary, Emperor Francis the 1st is engaged in a fight to the finish with the Ottoman occupier in order to liberate the Magyars and reclaim the territory for the Austrian Empire. The entire plain is laid waste to Turkish raiding parties, just like in the 16th Century, and much work and fighting remain to reclaim the land from the hated Ottomans.

In the Balkans and the Yedisan, the Russo-Turkish War continues to rage between the two powers as a big battle looms for the Akerman Fortress on the Black Sea coast. On its outcome rests the future of Russia in the south, or else the Ottoman Empire reclaiming the Crimea from the Tsars.

This is the story of the Napoleonic Wars.
