Bringing Amish Hope at Christmas

(2023)
A Story by

Rachel Strubhar loves the Christmas season. It's always cold here, but that's not what she likes the best. The people she surrounds herself in the Amish community have always had a special place in her heart. Particularly her father. After losing her mother at a young age, it's been just the two of them.

That feeling is always dwarfed by the Christmas season. This year, however, the cheer goes out so close to Christmas when she learns of the death of Gilead Yoder.

Gilead hadn't been a close friend of hers, but his brother Urias had, despite the six-year age difference.

Urias Yoder's world shatters when his brother dies suddenly just a week before Christmas. He'd been helping his brother prepare for Christmas dinner with the family when it happened. Knowing that Gilead had trusted him with his health makes it hurt even more than he could have ever imagined.

When Rachel comes to help Urias, both are overtaken by immense feelings that they had not realized were there before. Can love overcome the horrible feelings that come with death, or is Urias Yoder doomed to have the worst Christmas he's ever had?
