As the mortality rate spiked, the dead were thrown into vast pits. When the dead reanimated and clawed their way back out, society collapsed and the living fled.
Staff Sergeant Breht leads a depleted squad of soldiers on a desperate rescue mission. Their target: a group of research scientists trapped in a hospital. With hordes of undead closing in, they are cut off from base and Breht has to find a way to lead his disparate band of survivors to safety.
As they journey through hell, however, Breht discovers that zombies may be the least of his problems. Treachery awaits in the dark wilderness of humanity's fall.
