Imperial Commander
(2026)(The eighth book in the Decline and Fall of the Galactic Empire series)
A novel by Andrew Moriarty
Rescue the Empress. Crush the Core Fleet. Try not to get eaten.
Devin, Lord Lyon—rebel Tribune, Mad Dog of the Verge, and reluctant would-be Emperor—has a fleet, a flagship, and a problem. The Chancellor is holding his sister, the Empress, hostage. Somewhere. The Imperial Navy is assembling a fleet to destroy him. Somewhere. His bankers are going to stop lending him money. Sometime. Soon.
More importantly, he's running low on wine.
When an old frenemy offers to help him beat the Empire, why not let her help? And when his spies locate a planet where the empress might be, why not go get her? And if his subordinates are bickering about tactics and strategy, that's just healthy debate, right?
Heading toward the core for a confrontation with the Empire is much better than staying in the verge and chasing tankers. Isn’t' it?
What could possibly go wrong?
If you like Galactic Empires, honorable enemies, and snappy dialog, this one's for you!
Genre: Science Fiction
