The final battle for the soul of the Magelands is about to take place.
On one side, the imperilled mortal Holdfasts are struggling to survive; while, on the other, the immortal Holdfasts and their allies seem set to take control of the Sapphire Empire. Led by Cairney Holdfast, and armed with the Sextant, they possess the power to annihilate their enemies. Cairney dreams of becoming a second Prince Michael – a god-tyrant who ruled for a thousand years. If he succeeds, the mortals of the Empire will be forced back into primitive servitude.
