The second adventure in the Mountain Man Doc series, by acclaimed author Clay More.

After surviving a bloodbath in No-man’s Creek, Sawbones Drummond had returned to St. Louis to deal with his enemy, Orson Grenville, another doctor. Mistakenly thinking he had done exactly that, he returned to the mountains only to learn that Blackfeet warriors were on a scalp hunt, slaughtering and scalping trappers and hunters.

Along with his newfound partner Bull Guthrie, himself a seasoned mountain man, he discovers that the bodies of three friends killed in the bloodbath the year before had been dug up and their heads stuck on poles as part of a curse by a medicine man. The aim of the curse was to bring Sawbones back to No-man’s Creek.

The Blackfeet also believed that a Wendigo, an evil spirit, had been released and was killing warriors, mutilating and scalping them. Sawbones saw no alternative than to return to No-man’s Creek.

But the Blackfeet weren’t the only ones who were after his scalp.
