Silver Slut: Bam Bam Shabam!

(2017)
(The third book in the Wonder Tales series)
A Novella by

In the 3rd installment of the Silver Slut series, Rennie Renfield, fun-loving, energetic 18-year-old comic book creator and secret superhero with the unfortunate moniker "Silver Slut" (which she has decided will not be a negative), takes a bus from Massachusetts with her best friend, Jinpa Tenzin, to Washington DC to visit Anderson College of Art and Design, the school they will be attending in the fall. There, they meet friendly ceramics instructor Laura Harmon and crazy-ass fellow art student Aulman Wickfish, tour the city's huge National Mall, and, when a pair of thieves try to escape from the Museum of American History with pop culture treasures, Rennie must pull a fast, undetected change to stop the criminals before they succeed.

Through future installments, Rennie tries her best to make her superhero ancestors proud, keep her secret, survive art school, fight for justice and other good stuff, while encountering bizarre people and situations along the way. Silver Slut stories aren't comic books, but are written in a comic-booky style. Great cover art by Cortney Skinner.

Praise for Silver Slut:

"The charming, amusing, and exciting beginning to what will certainly be an awesome superhero saga!" - Jeff Strand, author of A BAD DAY FOR VOODOO

"Massie's fun, inspiring story took me back to my teenage years; at least to what I wish they had been like. I wanted to be as self-assured as Rennie, to have my parents give me a magic superhero cape, to discover powers. Written by a master storyteller, this story for all teenagers and grownups. I can't wait for the next installment!" - Linda D. Addison, award-winning author of HOW TO RECOGNIZE A DEMON HAS BECOME YOUR FRIEND

"With a convincing 18-year-old heroine possessed of a dry wit and a refreshing confidence that avoids the jaded gloom-doom of so many young protagonists, Massie gives us an infectious piece of wish-fulfillment with a clever conceit, quirky rules and unexpected twists - all grounded in a solid reality - that leaves you wanting more." - Larry Blamire, writer-director of THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA and author of DOC ARMSTRONG: SUBURB AT THE EDGE OF NEVER

"Elizabeth Massie is the rare author who has the talent and versatility to write every genre well, and she proves it here again with a magical superhero coming-of-age caper story that's a total blast!" - Christopher Golden, New York Times bestselling author of SNOWBLIND

"The first installment of Elizabeth Massie's Silver Slut had me in stitches. A story about an unlikely supergirl, played straight, played for laughs, set in a world that rings perfectly true, especially to those of us who have spent time at fan conventions, loved comic books, and wondered... perhaps more than idly... about what it's really like to fly. Wonder no more. Me, I can't wait for the next chapter of Silver Slut." - Stephen Mark Rainey, author of THE MONARCHS, OTHER GODS, BLUE DEVIL ISLAND, and others.

"And so the adventure begins....Elizabeth Massie's new series Silver Slut, (a nickname bestowed willy-nilly by the way on her wonderful super-hero, Rennie Renfield) has enormous charm and instant likability. Dare yourself to fall in love with this first well-written, detail-packed, humorous and intelligent installment...because you're going to want more. But wouldn't it be oh-so-much better to get in on the fun right from the start?" - Lisa Mannetti, Bram Stoker Award winner and Shirley Jackson Award finalist, author of THE BOX JUMPER

"Elizabeth Massie's new Silver Slut stories show a young woman becoming a super hero (yay!) while still trying to survive being a teenager (not so yay!). Full of whimsy and age-appropriate angst, this new series is both funny and endearing. And is she really stuck with that superhero name?" - Craig Shaw Gardner, bestselling author of A MALADY OF MAGICKS and TEMPORARY MONSTERS
