Murphy's Rangers XII: Wolves of Siberia
(2026)(Book 12 in the Heroes of World War II series)
A novel by Eric Meyer
The war is over. Captain Jack Murphy is in London, counting the days until the last of his squad can finally return home.
Each day, he hassles the brass for news of transport back to the States, and each day they tell him to ‘come back tomorrow.’ Until he ’comes back tomorrow’ in time to receive news that is beyond bad. There will be no ticket home.
A B-29 on a mission over Japan to monitor the atomic bomb about to explode on Hiroshima is shot down by a wandering Zero. The survivors, scientists, and aircrew, are captured by the Japanese and subsequently fall into the hands of the Soviets. Military Intelligence informs him that an old and respected ally is among the survivors. As if things couldn’t be worse, the Russians are holding them deep inside Siberia. Military Intelligence requires a small team to go in and get them back. They have chosen Murphy'''s squad because of past successes with similar missions operating behind enemy lines.
What they are proposing is a mission to infiltrate Soviet territory, locate the captives, and bring them out before Stalin’s NKVD extracts the scientific data they hold in their brains. Scientific data that would give the Soviet Union the means to construct an atomic bomb.
They embark on a long-distance flight to Korea and cross into the Soviet Union. What awaits them is a frozen hell of gulags, treachery, and the dreaded NKVD, the brutal and vengeful secret police.
From the burning skies over Hiroshima to the icy wastes of Kolyma, Wolves of Siberia delivers page-turning high-octane action. A harrowing journey of sheer, unbreakable courage, when the dark shadow of the Cold War is about to fall across a shattered world.
Genre: Thriller
