March, 1940. The Winter War is in its final weeks. Finland is winning the impossible and losing it at the same time. Marshal Mannerheim is desperate to commit the Ninth Division to the crumbling front in Karelia, but one formidable obstacle remains before he can send them southward: the Central Motti at Kuhmo, where the Ninth grinds inward against a Soviet command post that has nowhere left to retreat.

Then, at Kolla, an old nemesis rises and silences the White Death.

With Finland's finest sniper out of action, the Soviet champion proceeds to dismantle the Twelfth Division one bullet at a time. The men in the forests of Kolla call him a ghost. The signals from the front simply count the bodies. Desperate to stop the bleeding, Mannerheim sends the only sniper he has left that can salvage the situation, Lieutenant Hale Karhonen.
Hale moves through the unfamiliar forests at Kolla, hunting the Soviet Union's champion. The hunt that brought him here is not a new one. The man waiting amongst the broken trees is a ghost he first encountered at Kivenappa. A hunter who has crossed Hale's path before.

The reckoning that began in December ends here.
