An uneasy peace has marked Dublin’s streets for years. The bloodshed and violence kept to a minimum by a ruthless Cartel interested in making money and avoiding headlines.

That changes during a winter night, when a senior Cartel member is assassinated in an expensive restaurant while dining with his wife. Gardaí scramble to maintain order and preserve life, fearing that this is the opening salvo in a drug war that could last for years.

Alongside the security operation, Detective Inspector James Fitzgerald and Detective Sergeant Aine Murphy are tasked with finding the man’s killer. Each of his friends, enemies and family members are a potential suspect, and no one is eager to talk to the Gardaí. With no eyewitnesses on the record and no one willing to testify, James and Aine must work out two things, who gave the order and who pulled the trigger. For that, they need to enter the murky world of Cartel politics and find out just why he was killed.

There, they begin to suspect that this goes deeper than murder. James thinks that he hasn’t been given all the information he needs to find the killer. Worse than that, someone on his own side doesn’t want him to succeed, and the line between Cartel and law enforcement may not be as obvious as it first seemed.
