When the poster boy for anger management classes is your only hope for survival, you're in trouble.

One could be forgiven for thinking that I, Tabitha Nichols, chatterbox extraordinaire, have the ability to talk myself out of any corner. One would be wrong. It seems I've fallen into the habit of getting myself caught up in situations where my life is on the line, and I need more than a wayward tongue to survive.

Anger aside, David Breckenridge was tailor made for the lean, mean, fighting machine type scenarios that now plague my life. The man whose conversational skills are limited to grunts, growls, and glowers. All aimed at me, of course. Because I apparently possess this innate ability to bring out the best in the man. Or something.

Since I can't just sit around twiddling my thumbs (got more feelings in my thumbs than Breck does in his whole body) I set about doing the impossible—peeling back the layers in search of emotion. Any emotion other than the thundercloud wrapped up in human form who is now my bodyguard. All he has to do is tell me to stop, and I'll leave him alone. Okay, so I hope it won't happen before he figures out who is trying to kill me and why. I want to believe he needs me to break down that wall of anger, but I know, without a doubt, that I need him.

Because the shadows are closing in, and I don't know who else I can trust.
