Burning Skies
(2026)(The second book in the Flight of the Intrepid series)
A novel by Kevin McLaughlin
Earth is dying.
An alien assault has left the planet devastated, and the fires still burn. Billions are dead. The fleet is gone. What little remains of humanity clings to survival aboard a handful of ships sheltering in the shadow of the last Star Carrier still flying.
Admiral George Oliver has faced impossible odds before. He's clawed victory from the jaws of defeat more times than any man should have to. But this time, there may be no victory to be hadonly survival, and even that is far from certain.
While the Intrepid's crew scrambles to pull survivors from a wounded Earth, Oliver knows the Drechnai aren't finished. They've invested everything in this attack. They won't stop until nothing is left of humanity but ashes and memory.
He's not wrong. The enemy is already there.
Hidden forces prepare to strike while humanity is still reeling from the earlier assault. If left unopposed, they could devastate what little remains of Earth's infrastructure and put a stop to the Admiral's desperate plans to save humans from complete annihilation. But the enemy hasn't accounted for humans' fighting spirit.
The Drechnai may want humanity extinct, but the men and women of the Intrepid have other ideas!
Genre: Science Fiction
