A novel by

Mystery novelist Connor Hawthorne and her lover, Laura Nez, are enjoying a quiet weekend at a retreat in Palm Springs, but a poolside conversation with a resort employee, Bettina Waters, soon has them neck-deep in a mystery with far-reaching ramifications. Bettina tells them about a disturbing letter from her sister, Carmen, who has gotten entangled with what seems like a cult in Europe, and wants all the money from their inheritance. The next morning, Bettina is found dead. Connor and Laura travel to Yorkshire, England to investigate Sister Sonia, whose purported healing powers are drawing hundreds to the Children of Artemis compound. Eventually, Connor's daughter, Katy, insists on going undercover to find out what has become of one of her colleagues. Connor's father, the redoubtable ex-Senator and presidential advisor, joins them, soon to be followed by the other memorable characters from the previous Connor Hawthorne mysteries. They discover a link between the cult and the massacre of an archaeological team on an island in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle. Before long, they all realize they are dealing with phenomena far outside their experience, and beyond time itself. They must marshall all their courage, and all their technology, both worldly and other-worldly, to solve the mystery and see justice done...for a crime committed thousands of years earlier.
