A novel by Nik Morton
After a nine years’ absence, Tana Standish is sent back to Argentina to assess the political mood of the military junta while fraught diplomatic negotiations regarding the Falkland Islands are being pursued by the Argentines and the British.
In Buenos Aires she finally locates and targets the rogue CIA agent Miles Olsen, the man responsible for the death of Gregory Jarvis, a British agent in Tehran four years ago.
Her mission also involves two other associates from that time: CIA agent Lance Colombo who she helped flee from Iran when the Shah was deposed; and MI6 agent Malcolm Coppersmith who she rescued from a trap set by Olsen.
We meet again the traitor Sir Laurence Bidewell who still wants to discredit Sir Gerald Hazzard, Tana’s boss; Tana’s lover, Karel Yakunin, a gifted psychic; and James Fisk, the psychologist attached to Interprises who helps Tana hone her psychic skills.
Ranged against her is Dr Anton Platonov an accomplished psychic controller; Soviet psychic Vasil Nevsky; and Soviet Spetsnaz Lieutenant Aksakov.
When Tana’s friends and allies suffer at the hands of the military regime she is determined to help them. However, when she embarks on this crusade she learns a devastating fact that thrusts her towards the Falkland Islands and inhospitable South Georgia at the outset of the historic conflict...
