Malpractice

(2000)
(The third book in the Frank Samson Mystery series)
A novel by

When his cousin dies from an 'accidental' heroin overdose, Frank Samson, veterinary practitioner and reluctant private investigator, suspects foul play. But when Frank tries to convince the police of this, he discovers that there was a darker side to his beloved cousin.

Frank's work takes him from Dublin to the tranquility of Ireland's countryside, but there is no peace to be found there either. His new employers are in trouble; the practice is losing clients rapidly as increasing numbers of cases go disastrously wrong. Frank begins to look up old friends who can shed light on the mysterious animal deaths and injuries, and friends who knew Dave and had glimpsed his hidden life.

It becomes apparent that the conspirators who destroyed Dave are also behind the vicious animal attacks. By solving one mystery, Frank will be able to find Dave's killer. But in doing so he puts himself squarely in the sights of his cousin's murderers.
