"Like a Saturday night 80's action film. Full of cool twists, grin-inducing banter, and explosive action. I loved it." Rob Hayes author of Never Die.

Take a witty, 50s noir-style detective vibe, mash it up with Blade Runner *and* Star Wars and then crank it up to breakneck speed. Space wizards, gangsters, sentient robots, aliens, ghosts and secret histories: Steve McHugh’s Atoned is a wild ride and a hell of a lot of fun!” Justin Lee Anderson author of The Lost War

"If you love sci-fi with action, twists and turns, a bit of violence and swearing, realistic and interesting characters and a vibrant world you NEED to get a copy of Atoned as soon as you can!" whatyoutolkienabout

"This is my first foray into the authors imagination, and I was wonderfully impressed with the flow and development." davidsbookblurg

"An action-packed, compelling read from start to finish. I can't wait to discover what lies in store for the Wardens next! Very highly recommended." hairpastafreckle

Civil War tore across the Union Empire, leaving countless dead in its wake. It was a war started by one man, once beloved by the Empire. His betrayal still lingers in the memory of those who lived through it.
Decades later, his son, Felix Drake, is a Warden tasked with both protecting the ruling members of the Union Empire and its Council, and bringing those powerful and influential people to justice should they break the law.
Drake protects the very Empire his father sought to destroy.
When two members of a Council family are murdered, Drake and his team investigate, only to uncover corruption, resentment, and yet more death.
As the case deepens, Drake is forced back into a life he’d left long ago, bringing with it the same disdain and anger from the very people he’s sworn to protect.
However, he’s no longer a helpless child, and the people who try to intimidate him now are about to discover that Drake is so very much his father’s son.

Reader Reviews:

"I have always found Steve McHugh's books hard to put down but this one was the hardest yet. If you like a fast paced, uncomplicated story then you need to give this a try."

It's a very original plot that I can't say I've read anything like before. Definitely a book I will be recommending to fantasy and sci fi lovers alike.

Steve is a brilliant writer and I can't wait to read more by him. I highly recommend it.
