Frankie Mellows is always up for a good time. When she spots a handsome stranger at her favorite diner, thoughts of momentary bliss with him are all she can think about. As a single mother to a special needs child, Frankie’s time is limited, so entertaining a man for longer than a nightcap is not in her realm of possibilities. But when that man asks her out on a date, Frankie can’t help but entertain ideas about what could be if they were more.

Neurosurgeon Elijah Valentine begins his day much like he ends it—with a surgical tool in his steady hands in an effort to save a life. His days and nights blend together, and often he wakes in the warm bath he falls asleep in. With such a busy schedule, there was no time for relationships, friendly or otherwise, until the woman he’d flirted with at a local diner continued to fill his thoughts with interest. When he’s presented with the chance to take her on a date, he takes it, and now getting the alluring, sultry woman out of his mind is impossible. It could be the drawl in her voice, the sway in her hips, or the way in which her face lights up when she laughs that holds him captive.
Either way, he’s willing to hold on to her as long as she’ll allow, and for his sake, he begins to hope it’s forever.
