(2025)
A Story by

Life was simpler when we were younger.

Easier.

More innocent.

Her favorite game to play had always been
save the princess.

It was my job to storm the castle, slay the dragon, and rescue her.

Each and every time.

She always made me the hero, never the damsel in distress, and I guess it stuck with me.

When we grew out of our games—out of our innocence—they decided to move on without me.

She lied to them and they believed her.

I became the only thing I could to survive.

A feral animal tossed out into the wild.

A gutter rat with no place to call home.

It was all her fault.

I never did forget it.

And I won’t forgive either.
