Product Description.

The Shanghaiers is Number 4 of the Coldiron Series. The series has received high praise from national book reviewers: Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews.
Set in the brash and brawling days of nineteenth-century San Francisco, THE SHANGHAIERS brings together, for the first time ever, two of Parker's toughest and most compelling characters - Luke Coldiron of the Coldiron series and Tom Gallatin, first introduced in The Highbinders. Men of honor, action, and conviction, Coldiron and Gallatin know how to take care of their friends... and how to take care of their enemies.
Luke Coldiron has come to Frisco to win a fortune in a game of high stakes poker. Tom Gallatin is mixed up in a game in which the stakes are even higher. He's fallen for Ging Ti. A young Chinese girl who's been sold into slavery and shipped across the Pacific to to work as a whore in the brothels on The Street Of Slave Girls of San Francisco. When a powerful crime syndicate tries to cheat Coldiron out of his winnings--and Gallatin out of his girl - the two men find themselves in the fight of their lives, up against a devious crew of rakes, rogues, and desperadoes. There's Black Drummond, the crooked saloon keeper who trades human flesh for gold; Marie, one of the most enticing and beautiful females ever to cut a man's throat; and Mingram Yang, whose Chinatown empire is built on opium, slavery, and cold-blooded murder. Together, Gallatin and Coldiron come out with their backs to the wall and six-guns blazing. Raise hell with them, and there's the devil to pay!

EXCERPT

Tom jumped to the entrance of the apartment. The lock had been broken. He flung the door open. In one long stride he was inside and charging at Ging's captor. He had to reach the man before he could draw a weapon.
The Chinaman flung the girl aside and charged strongly forward to meet Tom. They crashed together.
Tom smashed the man savagely in the face with his fist. The Chinaman rolled with the blow and grabbed Tom by the coat front. He hurled himself backward, pulling Tom to the floor with him. As they thudded down, he kicked Tom viciously in the stomach. Tom lost his wind with a swish. He hit the man in the face and broke free. He surged to his feet.
The man was equally quick, vaulting erect. His hands dove into his blouse and came out with a two-edged dagger. He jumped toward Tom.
Tom yanked his six-gun. He did not want to shoot the man here and make a loud noise. He hurled himself from in front of the man. As he faded away, he extended his arm full length and swung the pistol mightily against the man's head. The vibration of the iron weapon shattering bone ran up Tom's arm.
