Spinning into the Dark
(2025)(Fear on the Norfolk Broads)
(The eighth book in the DCI Greg Geldard series)A novel by Heather Peck
Autumn on the Norfolk Broads. As the summer visitors drift away and mist settles over the reedbeds, bodies are starting to pile up.
Please note this book was previously published as Spinning into the Dark.
DCI Greg Geldard and his fiancée Chris have just found out there's a baby on the way. Geldard would like nothing more than to take his pregnant partner home to relax, feed the cat, and put the job out of his mind for a while.
No chance.
An elderly woman has been run off the road on her bike, dumped in a ditch and left to die. And she isn't the only one.
Another body surfaces in the water near Martham. An old man knocked from his bike and swept into the river, still wearing his bicycle clips.
Two lonely deaths. The same brutal hand.
Someone is hunting the back roads of the Broads . . . a killer who strikes fast and leaves nothing behind.
And anyone riding the lanes alone could be next.
This gripping detective mystery full of twists and turns is perfect for fans of Ann Cleeves, Elly Griffiths, Peter May, Matt Brolly and Joy Ellis.

THE DETECTIVE
DI Greg Geldard is an outsider in more ways than one. When his latest case takes him to Norfolk, he’s finally found a place he can call home. Although impatient with paperwork and dismissive of inter-agency politics, he’s a natural leader, hardworking, insightful and above all, willing to listen. Still reeling from a painful divorce, he has begun a tentative romance with DS Chris Matthews. But a relationship with a fellow police officer is fraught with difficulties.
THE SETTING
Norfolk, as Geldard often observes, seems to have more water than land. Bordered by vast, empty beaches, it is home to the unique environment of the Broads; a network of navigable rivers and man-made lakes which date from medieval times. This wetland landscape is known for its open skies, vast waterways, and diverse wildlife. Norfolk also has some of the richest farming land in the UK, growing everything from cereals to asparagus. But this idyllic environment, as Geldard knows to his cost, can hide dark secrets.
