Kim Bailey was laser-focused on owning a bakery someday. Life in the coastal town of Dusk Bay always seemed to be preparing her for the moment she could make her dreams come true. An abbreviated stint in culinary school and many years of working in a restaurant led up to the perfect opportunity. When Vandyke's Bakery was closing for business and Riddley Vandyke agreed to sell, Kim believed her prayers were answered. Against her family's advice, but with her strong determination and passion showing the way, she seized the opportunity. Little did she know, though, that fate had other plans for her. It all comes crashing down when the tragic and shockingly gruesome murder of Riddley Vandyke in his own bakery puts Kim's whole future in jeopardy... Is this going to be a sudden stop to her career, or even worse, her complete downfall?

Since Kim was about to purchase the bakery, and after finding out that Riddley Vandyke had backed out at the last minute, police lay all their investigation on Kim. Out of the blue and having done nothing wrong, Kim finds herself in the midst of a murder case. Inevitably, she decides to do what she does best and takes matters into her own hands. With a little help from her friends, she comes up with one suspect after another, but to their surprise, each one of them manages to escape their web of suspicion. It seems that only a miracle would save her now, especially since the investigation is dangerously closing in on her as time goes by...

In an unexpected and hopeful turn of events, her father shows up and proves himself valuable for the race of her life. Together, and with the clock ticking against them, they work the case and discover that Kim was being framed. Who would want Kim in jail and why would they reach a point where they kill an innocent person? With the killer on the loose, Kim has no choice but to act fast and smart. Will her amateur detective skills though, rise to the occasion? Or will she remain merely a pawn of the killer's devious scheme?
