(The fourth book in the Darren Priest Mysteries series)
A novel by

(sequel to The Paletti Notebook): The U.S. government's interest in the Paletti notebook raises questions, especially about the White House advisor who stands between Priest and the president he serves. The answer to the puzzle can be found in the encrypted text found in the notebook, a World War II-era addition to the papers that seems to have links to the Manhattan Project and nuclear bomb research. But Priest and his team are unable to decrypt it, neither can their people in the CIA, so they go in search of the man who created the code during the war. His surviving daughter now teaches in Paris; they track her down when they hear she shared her father's genius for encryption. She helps solve the puzzle, but nearly at the expense of Alana Weber's little daughter.
