Clint comes to Settlerville, Montana at the behest of an old friend, who asks him to find his young, runaway wife. As it turns out, the man is not the friend Clint remembers and the woman has a reason for running away. Clint is still determined to find her, but does not intend to force her to go back. The search takes him from Settlerville, Montana to St. Louis, Missouri, to New Orleans, Louisiana, with gunmen on his tail.
