Captain Lane Andres left rescued journalist Hilary Abrams on the doorstep of the American Embassy after a night that redefined her body’s definition of ecstasy, sending her home to recover from the trauma she expected and the heartbreak she never saw coming.
Months after her terrifying kidnapping, Hilary, desperate to reclaim her career and her sanity, heads off for an isolated retreat, hoping her muse will find her there. A twist of fate lands her at a remote cabin belonging to the same ex-Army Ranger Captain Lane Andres who rescued her—and then abandoned her after a night they shared celebrating their survival.
Lane believes he has failed everyone important in his life, and he refuses to let Hilary become another casualty, even when a second chance with her lands unexpectedly in his lap. Despite letting her go again, an opportunity to redeem himself one last time forces Lane to leave his isolated cabin and confront every part of his past: his family, his men, and the woman who crashed back into his life.
The more time they spend together, the more Hilary's spiraling fear threatens to break her–sending Lane’s protective instincts into overdrive. He must choose: stay with the woman he tried to leave behind, or hunt the ruthless monsters who are still shadowing her.
