A novel by

The Green Belt suburb in which reporter Jim Larkin and his wife Bunty have now taken up residence has always been free from serious crime. Suddenly a wave of muggings breaks out. Suspicion falls first on members of a local youth club, then on big time operators from the Smoke and on those who burgle the Larkins home. the larkins are more directly involved when Jim himself becomes a victim, and so does the daughter of some friends. And then the muggers turn to murder, and the need to hunt them down becomes imperative. One by one the suspects have to be ruled out as the leads followed by the police (and Larkin) end in failure. And then Larkin finds himself literally holding the vital clue to the killers, and finds too that he is in danger of his life.
