Jason Mariney was born deaf. Then the apocalypse arrived and decided vibrations were basically magic.
Which is rude, obviously, but also convenient.
Jason has always been good at noticing what other people miss: a warped fan mount in a server room, a bad vibration under the floor, the way stone answers when he yells into a mountain valley. Silence, for him, has never been empty. It has weight. Texture. Warnings.
Then the System crashes into Earth like it was installed by a sleep-deprived intern.
Mana floods the world. Technology dies. Monsters start treating the wilderness like an all-you-can-eat buffet. And Jason, stranded alone on a mountain summit, receives a unique class designed around the one language he has spent his entire life learning.
Resonance Mage.
Now he can feel enemies through the ground, find the weak points in stone, turn vibration into shields and attacks, and weaponize pressure waves against creatures that absolutely did not ask for his opinion.
Unfortunately, being magically gifted does not make him less injured, less lost, or less surrounded by things with too many legs.
To survive, Jason will have to descend Mount Arlen, find other survivors, master powers he barely understands, and somehow avoid becoming monster food before he gets a decent explanation from the universe.
Customer service is poor. The tutorial is unclear. The bugs are everywhere.
Rise of the Sound Mage is a sarcastic, fast-paced System Apocalypse LitRPG adventure featuring a unique deaf protagonist, tactical resonance magic, survival, monsters, leveling, and a hero whose coping strategy is mostly jokes and bad decisions.
Genre: Science Fiction
