Getting a rare class was supposed to solve Cael Eyrin's problems.

Instead, the System gave him Time Mage.

The guild was impressed.

For approximately five minutes.

Then came the assessment.

Class attribute bonuses: None.
Class skills: None.
Class abilities: None.

Cael already had debt, bad wages, and a dangerous job repairing walls on a monster-infested frontier. What he did not particularly need was a prestigious new way to remain poor.

Then the class finally gives him one ability.

Still Hour: For one hour, the world stands still. You do not.

Once per day, everything freezes except Cael.

People.

Arrows.

Falling water.

Monsters.

Especially monsters.

And Cael soon discovers that while his enemies cannot move, the System still recognizes his training and attacks.

That changes everything.

One hour becomes sixty uninterrupted minutes of grinding.

He can practice the same sword strike hundreds of times.

Push weak General Skills far beyond where sensible people stop training them.

Study armored monsters until he finds the one place his blade might actually work.

Scout deadly routes without anyone seeing him move.

And, when necessary, spend an unreasonable amount of time hitting something that really should have died twenty minutes ago.

The Still Hour has limits. Cael can still exhaust himself, bleed, run out of mana, break his equipment, and discover that some monsters are simply too tough for a low-level laborer with determination and a borrowed sword.

But every day gives him another hour.

Another hour gives him more practice.

More practice gives him levels.

And levels are beginning to turn the guild's supposedly useless Time Mage into something nobody knows how to deal with.

Which becomes a problem when Cael discovers someone is deliberately forcing monsters toward his home—and the trail leads to enemies whose levels make his own look like a rounding error.

Cael cannot stop them yet.

Fortunately, he is very good at grinding.

A LitRPG progression fantasy about exploiting one strange ability, leveling through relentless practice, and discovering just how dangerous a weak skill can become when you have more time than everyone else.
