A novel by

Ace Edwards with his new bride, Kit Levitt, is hired by the attorney of the suspect to investigate the murder of Jason Mallory in New Braunfels, TX. The police are concentrating on Johanna Schneider, a 20-year-old college student and Mallory's girlfriend. Johanna was heard to threaten to kill Mallory on the very night he was found dead. The attorney is Jesse Montgomery, an old college mate of Ace's and the uncle of Johanna. The task is to find enough information to plant doubt in the minds of a jury, if needed. Facts are hard to come by. No one believes Johanna did it but can provide no firm evidence to that end. Ace and Kit resort to the old technique of interviewing everyone and following up on each piece of information. Difficulty is encountered when it is discovered Johanna has been less than forthcoming about the night of the murder. Ace and Kit must operate in an area they're not familiar with and dig beneath solid layers of circumstantial evidence. Things become more complicated when Ace runs into personal trouble. Kit is his loving, loyal sidekick, working day and night to prove Johanna innocent. The question remains, can they find enough to upset the circumstantial case.
