When a storm uncovers a shallow grave in the grounds of a historic house, forensic pathologist Dr Leighton Campbell fears there may be more bodies buried on the estate. Before long, he is proved right, raising the possibility that South Yorkshire Police have a serial killer on their hands.
Detective Inspector Trevor Mawson is only too aware that the killer may strike again, and he and his team race to track down those with a connection to the property. The current occupant is more concerned with the investigation’s impact on his travel plans than the discovery of human remains within sight of his bedroom, the woman who cleans for him seems to be afraid to speak out, and Trevor is convinced the building’s owner is hiding something.
