The sea is lovely this time of year. The beaches are pristine, the sun is generous, and the occupying army is enjoying every bit of it all. They believe the war is as good as won, their supply lines run like clockwork, and every decision their headquarters makes is pure genius.
Which is precisely the kind of idyll my little war band was born to ruin.
We never had much in the way of qualms. So we hit them where it mattered and where, supposedly, we couldn’t reach. But we did. Some of our deeds will be sung. A few others are better left off the record.
But all of that was fairly predictable. What wasn’t was that the real danger was not lurking behind enemy lines. And it did not wear the enemy's colors.
