Showdown at Jackson Hole is a flashback story in the Shane and Jonah series, and as such takes place before Shane Preston finally got his revenge on the man who killed his wife.
Pete Halliday was panning for gold along the Gunnison River and making a pretty good go of it, too. So good, in fact, that a bunch of masked riders raided his claim one dark night, stole his cache and left Pete himself dead.
But Pete had a wife, feisty young Bess Halliday. And Bess wasn’t about to let Pete’s murder go unavenged. So she called in Shane Preston and Jonah Jones to discover the identities of the raiders who were robbing prospectors all along the Gunnison and then give them justice at the end of a Colt .45.
Still, finding out who was really behind the spate of robberies wasn’t going to be easy. They covered their tracks real well. But when at last they were revealed well, the truth might well seal the fates of Shane and Jonah!
Another blazing adventure featuring Shane and Jonah. 27th in the series.
