I ordered lingerie online for the first time in my life.
And it got delivered to my firefighter neighbor's porch.
I moved across town after my breakup, right next door to the most annoying firefighter in Las Vegas.
My ex told me I dressed like a man, thought like a man, and some days was more of a man than he was.
So I bought black lace and hit purchase before I could talk myself out of it.
Then I opened the confirmation email and saw I'd typed 823 instead of 824.
Today, I camped out on my porch trying to catch the delivery truck before it reached my neighbors door.
He picked that morning to mow his lawn without a shirt on.
I went inside for three minutes, and when I came back the truck was already turning off the block.
My doorstep was empty, and he was on his porch pulling the tape off the box.
I ran across the street in shorts and slippers and got there as he lifted the lace out of the tissue paper.
He held the box out to me, and I felt my face go hot.
"I was wondering when you'd finally come over. But I wasn't expecting this."
