During World War 2, many small units operated unsung, carrying out extremely dangerous missions behind enemy lines, or missions which by their very nature, were extremely hazardous, irrespective. Some of this work was so secret, that even to this day, the existence of some of these units remains unacknowledged.
Raven Squadron might have been one such. Did it exist? No records remain to prove it. But those who survived and those who created it, know. And that, might be dangerous knowledge

An old man lies on a recliner in the garden of his mildly decaying mansion outside a city of the old South, Macon, Georgia. He has an interesting history. He was once a member of a highly secret unit whose existence has never been acknowledged - Raven Squadron. There are strong reasons for this lack of disclosure. One by one down the years after the war, the surviving members have been dying, apparently of natural causes - until one of their most successful pilots, the black Southerner Tad Duchamps from Savannah, Georgia, is shot by a sniper at a reunion in France. It is an incident which prompts Duchamps' grandson of the same name, to go digging. He eventually and unwillingly accepts the help of Ellen Haines, granddaughter of one of the squadron's members. Unknown to them, they are putting themselves in grave danger.

Now nearing his end, it appears that the old man wants to talk, and he has devised a way of doing so; a means which will involve the young Duchamps, and Ellen Haines. He summons the estranged Ellen from New York, and gives her a valise which holds secrets many want to remain buried.
