Kate writes plays and books. Her young adult novel "Fans of the Impossible Life" will be coming out September 8, 2015 from HarperCollins/Balzer Bray. She's represented by the amazing Brianne Johnson at Writers House.
Her writing for theater has been seen in NYC at Dixon Place, Galapagos, and the SoHo Playhouse. Collaborations with puppet artist Amanda Villalobos have been presented as part of the Great Small Works Toy Theater Fest at St. Ann's Warehouse, in residence at the Henson Carriage House, and at Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX).
Kate's been a performing member of theater company Elevator Repair Service since 2002, and spent most of 2004-2012 traveling the world performing an eight hour long show called "Gatz" that uses the entire text of "The Great Gatsby." She played a secretary and she edited and wrote a lot of "Fans" onstage in her office cubicle while the show was going on. You can read more about that here. Some other places that she has performed with ERS: Norway, Singapore, Tasmania, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Vienna, the Sydney Opera House. In Australia she held a koala. In Singapore a bird told her fortune.
Kate grew up in New Jersey, went to school at Sarah Lawrence College, and now lives in Brooklyn with her wife and two black cats. Current interests include: angsty singing ladies, interior revolutions, and exterior adornments. Also - nostalgia as an art form. And - spiritual conspiracy theories.
