(2026)
A Story by

Sabine Brown grew up in Plum Township at the knee of her blacksmith Papa. As our story opens she is alone with the forge and her locksmithing. Papa’s absence leaves her vulnerable to the frustrations spreading across her frontier community. When locks begin to fail, crops are corrupted, and jealousies intensify, neighbors look for someone to blame. Suspicion and fear collide and all eyes turn to Sabine. Are the events a question of malevolence, magic or mastery? And is Sabine dealing in blessings or curses?

A fictional tale,
The Witch of Plum Creek was written to benefit the KERR MEMORIAL MUSEUM in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. The novella will lend support to the house museum and its mission to educate and entertain those who love history. Sabine Brown's story is inspired by real events that took place in the early 1800s. On a small island in the middle of the Allegheny River, a woman was dragged to trial for witchcraft by an angry mob who was convinced she was the root of evil spreading through their town.
