The ninth commandment says that lying is a sin.
II was taught that the truth is sacred, that lying was an unforgivable sin... so I never did.Not when father’s wives begged me to.
Or when the lashings were so bad and they told me if I just said something... anything... that it would stop.
The other wives learned to survive. they whispered fake sins. they cried, repented, and were forgiven by father.
I was locked in the dark and punished for the lies I refused to tell.
Because I had nothing to confess.
Father called me stubborn... broken.
So, he locked me away until I was ready to confess my sins.
I didn’t.
Years passed in the darkness, counting pain like prayer beads, holding onto the only thing I knew how to begood.
Now I’m free.
They say father was a monster.
That the world doesn’t work the way he said it did.
But I don’t understand this world.
I don’t understand the men they’ve put around me either.
The one who won’t leave my side.
The one trying to teach me things I should already know.
And the ones next door who know exactly what it means to escape hell and look at me like I’m something more than what I was trained to be.
I don’t know what to do with their kindness, or the way it makes me feel.
But it doesn’t matter.
Because Father is still out there.
I hear his voice inside my head telling me that I was never meant to be forgiven.
I was chosen.
His pure one.
His perfect girl.
His sacrifice.
