A Story by

It’s been 18 months and I still can’t get over my boyfriend’s death and the hole he left in my life and in my heart.

Taking the graveyard shift to avoid any kind of human interaction was, of course, the only explanation. I can’t sleep anyway. The apartment we shared feels too empty.

But one night, a note shows up in the printer tray: "You forgot to eat again, didn't you?"

At first, I think it’s just my coworkers looking out for me, but notes keep coming, always at night, always knowing things no one else would know.

And soon, I’m forced to confront an impossible truth: some loves don’t end at death.

Note: This is NOT a romance, although there are romantic elements in this novelette. While it is sweet, there are heavy undertones and hurt/comfort throughout the ~ 15k words. Full content list in the Author's Note.
