Hans Winter is drafted from the Hitler Youth into the Wehrmacht just before the invasion of Poland. He will serve for years in support of the Panzers, as an infantryman. His path will take him to many of the fiercest battles of the early years of the Second World War through blood, pain, and loss as well as triumph. Among others he must face the battle of El Alamein before he sees his home again.
