She preserves the town's oldest Christmas stories. He needs those stories to help keep people warm now.
Hallie Brooks came to Garland Falls to protect the past. As a textile archivist, she knows the town's old quilt room is full of irreplaceable treasures: hand-stitched squares, faded ribbons, handwritten fabric stories, and generations of Christmas kindness sewn into every seam.
Her job is to catalog the collection carefully before time, dust, and good intentions damage it forever.
Mason Greer is worried about this Christmas.
As the volunteer coordinator for Garland Falls' holiday blanket drive, he needs tables, bins, space, and warmth for the town's Christmas Eve warming-room project. The quilt room is the most practical place to work, and Mason cannot understand why Hallie seems more concerned with old fabric than with people who are cold right now. Hallie thinks Mason is careless. Mason thinks Hallie is missing the point.
Then a quilt square arrives with a story that belongs to both the past and the present, and they begin to wonder if they have been protecting the same thing all along.
As donated blankets pile up, volunteers write notes of encouragement, and the deadline draws near, Hallie and Mason must find a way to honor old Christmas memories while making new ones.
The result might be the warmest tradition Garland Falls has ever known.
