Resisting Daphne

(2024)
A novel by

I have no shame when it comes to the intensely possessive General Grant Meadows.

But then he’s proven he has more than enough stern self-control for the both of us. That’s why nobody knows Ive been in a secret relationship with my parents’ mysterious next-door neighbor for the last five years. It’s not what you think, despite all my pleading. If there were any justice in the world, this
would be a story of a voraciously passionate whirlwind romance. Or maybe one of those dark stories where he holds me captive for his own arrogant pleasure… (if only!)

Instead, it’s about me sneaking through the hedge a few times a year to spend a couple of hours with a much older man I find irresistible who happens to have iron control (and a really nice ass). Up until the day he finds me fake marrying his nephew, he never even kissed me properly. He blames the government cameras in his home, I think it has more to do with pure pig-headed bossiness. Pretty sure that makes this the slowest burn ever, am I right? But I can’t just walk away and leave him to the mercy of those that simply follow his orders without question. He deserves better. He deserves
me.

I’m convinced Grant came into my life so I could rescue him from a life of stuffy military protocols. It’s my duty to remind him that there’s more to life than missions and marking everything classified. And if he’s going to swim naked in the dark, then it’s definitely a crime against humanity not to watch that kind of perfection from the shadows of my room. FYI, he has no actual response to that (other than sexy growls and glares) which kinda proves my point…

And when I told him he should learn to be more spontaneous, I did not mean taking the kind of risks that land people unconscious in secret military medical facilities. I waited so long for us to truly be together, I’m not going to let him leave me now.
