Without Virtue

Max Kane and his sister Robin are hired to discover what happened to a young forest service worker in the vast Boundary Waters canoe area wilderness of Northern Minnesota. Was she, as the local authorities surmise, attacked and killed by a rogue black bear like her male colleague, or did she simply escape the bear and get lost in the massive wilderness? According to her sister, this was impossible.

After an exhaustive search by the forest service and local search teams, everyone considers giving up the search. Now, Max must use all of his skills to track down the killer, be it beast or human.

What he finds in the deep woods of one of the largest wilderness areas in America will test his training and his resolve.

Can he escape the clutches of an insidious evil? Or, has he finally met his match?
