Gary Seven returns to the USS "Enterprise" where he subdues the bridge crew and disappears with Kirk. They materialize on an icy planet where the government is on the verge of being overthrown. Seven has brought Kirk there to prevent the coup but Kirk isn't convinced that interference is in order.
