(2021)(A book in the Watson Chronicles series)
A novel by Christopher D Abbott
When Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson arrive in the village of Willesborough Lees in Ashford Kent, Inspector Hargreaves approaches Holmes for his advice regarding the violent death of a local man discovered that morning. Inspector Hargreaves raises concerns over inconsistences in the evidence, so Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson agree to take a peek at the scene. They meet a Constable Browne at the cottage who they discover has a fervent distrust of outsiders. Arthur Jenkins made enemies in the village of Willesborough Lees, and those enemies multiplied after he sold his family land, putting several of them out of work. Constable Browne believes it could be the motive for his murder, but Holmes has other ideas. When Inspector Hargreaves points to a seemingly innocuous broken pane of glass, set just above the front door, it piques the curiosity of Sherlock Holmes in such a way that neither he, nor Dr Watson, can fully comprehend
