Before Carluccio and Gina found true love there was Alessandro and Maria.
Alessandro who is a young man destined to take over the family business and he always imagined finding a suitable bride who would accept his way of life fully, never questioning or objecting.
Then he set eyes on Maria. She was younger, innocent and the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. From the first glance he was entranced by her beauty and grace but never imagined seeing her again, but he did.
That next sighting saw her being threatened with harm and that is when Alessandro rushed to her aid, a real life hero in her eyes.
By the time he'd walked her home, he knew she was his, and the man who had attempted to harm her made him realise that he really would kill for her.
Maria was a good girl, had studied in school, helped out with her younger siblings, held down a job in the local café and was never on the wrong side of the law, or at least she hadn't been until the cars with the blacked out windows began to spotted in the small town where she lived.
On her way home from a party where someone she knew had offered to walk her home, she never imagined how much that act would change her life. With the young man seeming to want more than she was willing to give saw her afraid and at risk of harm until those strange cars arrived, and her rescuer being revealed as the most handsome man she had ever seen. From that second, despite the darkness and danger she knew he carried, she felt a pull to him. Her hero, except heroes were the good guys, weren't they?
