Madrid, the French seat of power in Spain, is now within reach. Wellington’s army marches for the capitol, but news of several French armies on the move is a great cause of concern. If the enemy armies to the North, South and East can combine, they will form a force twice as strong as Wellington’s. Craven must do everything in his power to stop the French from combining into a horde so destructive that it could drive Wellington all the way back into Portugal.
