The stage rolled in with Smoky Joe hollering his head off for Shorty. “I’m right behind you Smoky.”
“Oh there you are, here.” He handed Shorty a letter.
Shorty read the letter, and again. “Shorty my heart is broken, Wanda Lou has been kidnapped and the kidnappers are asking for one hundred thousand dollars ransom, also the return of Jake Corley. I pray Corley wasn’t hung. It will take weeks, perhaps months raising that kind of money, even if I can. I desperately need your help, signed, Your friend, Homer Masters.”
