Helena Montana was the richest gold town in the west. Gold mines by the hundreds covered the mountains and gulches. There were more saloons and brothels per population than anywhere else in the whole west.
Gold brought con-men and women by the dozens. Outlaws robbed miners and stage coaches. When the railroad came thru town in eighteen-eighty-three, things got even worse. Early one morning a beautiful young lady stepped down from one of those trains with a set mind. She would have one of those dozens of millionaires as a husband in no time.
