'Io is the name for the Hawaiian hawk. This sacred bird is a sign of spiritual growth, enlightenment, and a message from the divine. It is also a symbol of strength, power, and agility.

Team 'Io: PALLAS
Domenico Pallas is now the leader of his Marine Raider unit. His team was halved in a horrific accident when the Osprey that they were in crashed between Kauai and Niihau. After the final funeral on the continent, he returns to Oahu to wait and see what the brass are going to do with what remains of their unit.
At a bar with a few of his remaining team, he meets a woman who seems to see right through the walls he's been trying to fortify. Pallas isn't sure he should even introduce himself, as he might be assigned to a different team or a duty station.
Leaving the bar, he hears a fight in an alley and Pallas charges in to stop it. He might not know her name, but he ends up standing between her and someone with more alcohol in their veins than sense in their head.
Kawehi Phillips is a woman used to standing on her own two feet. She has an amazing family, but she never needs someone else to fight her battles for her. Then again, she's never had someone come at her with a knife.
Being the manager at a popular Kailua bar, she's used to rowdy crowds and large bank deposits. The man staring at her, his shaking hand wrapped around the handle of a knife, was different.
She's about ready to throw the money at the man and run when someone steps in and puts a stop to the robbery.
Someone who'd been sitting in her bar all night.
Dom makes every inch of her body and soul sit up and take notice. He easily unarms the man in the alley, but the pain she can see in his eyes makes her hurt for him.
He might be off-limits based on the way he pulls away from her every chance he gets, but they keep ending up in each other's lives until they crash into each other like waves on the sand.
What's building between them is a force of nature and Pallas finds himself not only determined to protect her from the darkness following her, but he wants to stay in Hawaii and build a life with her.
