The Andoren logging town of Falcon’s Hollow has a hobgoblin problem, and the townsfolk have contracted a local mercenary company to deal with the issue. All in all, a typical day in Darkmoon Vale. Unfortunately for the dwarf Akina and the company she serves with, someone else got to the hobgoblins first: an oread monk named Ondorum who insists that the hobgoblins can be reasoned with. Akina, weighed down by her own history with hobgoblins, is reluctantly dragged along on this diplomatic mission. Can the two learn enough from each other for the mission to succeed?

From author Josh Vogt comes a story of compromise in the face of danger, a prequel to the novel, Forge of Ashes, set in the award-winning Age of Lost Omens setting of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.
