What's a space pirate to do?

Niall Chee became infected with a deadly alien bioweapon--and saved a world. The reward was ownership of his own ship, the
Crown Joule. But he faces more obstacles than the insidious fungus chewing away at his brain.

His navigator is suicidal. His personal doctor owes allegiance to a belligerent alien ruler. His engineer is a pile of robotic cubes with an unknown mission of its own. The only one he can trust is his wife (on any alien world but not one with human rule), Alcantara. But where do her loyalties really lie? She's the sister of the founder of Engineering Infinity and heir to a vast empire spanning dozens of artificially created solar systems. He should trust his own wife but Niall's induced paranoia makes him worry even she is against him.

Or is she? Is it only paranoia making him believe she is a traitor?

His paranoia would explode if he only knew of a galactic stalker after a relic taken by the
Crown Joule in a deadly rescue mission that turned into one netting only salvage. And beyond his sensors half a galaxy schemes and kills to retrieve the relic.

What is it? Why do so many alien races want to capture it? Niall fights to retain his own sanity and to save the
Crown Joule when the fate of the galaxy is at stake.

Niall and his mismatched crew race against a timetable they don't even know exists, struggling to stay alive. At the heart of it all is the mysterious ... relic. Will it be salvation or damnation for the
Crown Joule?
